Nodal and Mesh Analysis
| We started off with a recap of nodal analysis. We introduced the idea of Supernodes, which are voltage sources connected to 2 non-reference nodes with at lease 3 branches on it. This is useful for us because using nodal analysis, it is clear to see that the node voltage between those two nodes on either side of the source are equal to the voltage of the source. |
Nodal Analysis Lab
In this assignment, we will use nodal analysis to predict the circuit behavior prior to building and testing the circuit. We will then compare the measured circuit response with our expectations based on our analysis.
| In order to do nodal analysis, we created two more nodes, v_3 and v_4. We calculated the node voltages v_1 = 5V, v_2 = -0.644V. |
| Measured v_1 = 4.97V. Percent error = -.6% |
| Measured v_2 = -.52V. Percent error = 19%. Error due to variance in resistance values. |
| Example of Mesh analysis. We didn't do much of this today, but it was so much easier than Nodal analysis! Also, we had an introduction to Cramer's Rule and how we could use MATLAB to help us. |
