Day 1: Ohm's Law

Class Work
Today we started class talking about simple circuits. In the problem above, we needed to find the voltage in the middle resistor given all the rest of the powers from the other resistors. We were given the total power provided by the power source so we had to find the missing amount of power.
Here we were asked to find the power and energy with respect to the time, given the current and voltage with respect to time. This proved difficult after so long away from these concepts. It was really nice to revisit this to get it back in my head. In the end, piece-wise functions were the way to get the correct answer.

Ohm's Law Lab

1: In the circuit on the breadboard shown above, we found the resistance to be .7 Ohms. Because it is a closed circuit and only includes lengths of wire, this is an a reasonable answer.

2: When we measured resistance between holes on the opposite side of the isle, we found infinite resistance. Because this is an open circuit, this is a result we would expect.

3: When we measured resistance between two arbitrary holes, we found infinite resistance. Because this is an open circuit, this is a result we would expect.

4: When we measured resistance between holes connected by a jumper wire, we found resistance to be .6 Ohms. Because this is a closed circuit, this is a result we would expect.

A list of the resistances found from parts 1-4. All are measured in Ohms.
